Adapter pieces. We all use them. Whether it’s to reduce from one pipe size to another, to change from well head sizes (API) to downstream (ASME) sizes or to distance pieces between flanges. These adapter pieces can be found everywhere (oil and gas production platforms, onshore refining, FPSO’s, name them all…).
Why not utilize these adapter pieces to do something really useful like measuring pressure or temperature? Massive reductions in size, weight (and thus cost) can be achieved with the added benefit of reducing the number of dedicated pressure take off points.
We can even utilize these for chemical injection or sampling points.
